![]() ![]() Well, the game’s back in the news thanks to yet another delay, this time moving the game from its March 1st, 2023 release date all the way back to November 10, 2023. ![]() Remember The Day Before? Last we’d heard of Fntastic’s open-world survival MMO, it had been delayed due to switching engines to Unreal Engine 5, and then featured in a NVIDIA showcase alongside a bizarre video promoting its “volunteer” work culture. “We made a real inner breakthrough when we decided to go for big challenges from the bottom-so big that some people would consider them impossible.” The game is fully funded by Mytona, one of the largest mobile publishers in the world, who checked the game’s build at every milestone per our contract. “We didn’t take a penny from people: no crowdfunding, no pre-orders, no donations. All these years have been full of sweat and blood to make this game, and for many members of our team, it is unpleasant to hear such accusations. We’ve been creating the game for four years. Our whole focus has always been on the product itself. “We understand that some players, not seeing the whole picture, might have doubts about the game. The studio also hit back against online scepticism of the game’s legitimacy. That is a safe date, given the trademark dispute.” So to be on the safe side, to ensure there are no more transfers, we, along with the publisher, chose November 10. Pick up my sci-fi novels the Herokiller series and The Earthborn Trilogy.Update: Fntastic has spoken to IGN to further clarify The Day Before’s latest delay, saying “We planned to move the game’s release before and plan to announce it with Mytona in a 10-minute gameplay video. Subscribe to my free weekly content round-up newsletter, God Rolls. But they know how to get attention, that much is clear by this point.įollow me on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. The debate right now continues to be whether this is an outright scam or just a studio that doesn’t quite know what they’re doing. It is not clear what the next planned reveal is from The Day Before, or if player interest will still be there the next time around after this. Keep in mind that this was a game that was supposedly going to be released in a month, before the new nine months delay which was first blamed on a trademark dispute, then it was said was always planned. The point there is that there had to be like a hundred different ways to prove that this is a real game real people are working on than a 30 second video of a guy at a computer, but that’s what they went with. ![]() The gameplay video has 8.3K likes to 13K dislikes, an underwater ratio, and the “proof” video is even worse, 1K to 3K. The short “proof” video has 92,000.īut reaction is majority negative. It’s pretty stunning that The Day Before’s 10 minute gameplay reveal, which again, is mostly just a character running around an empty landscape and fiddling with their inventory, now has 620,000 views in just over a day. Update (2/4): If you were wondering how the general public was taking the release of these two videos, I suppose we can summarize it with.a lot of interest, but a lot of skepticism. I do believe something is being made here, but whether it ever sees the light of day, or in what form, is anyone’s guess. I would not wishlist this game, I would not ever give it any money if it asks for it. It could be either, but I’m leaning toward the latter. something taking money and running with it, and something that’s just…dramatically overpromising and overhyping itself with a team that doesn’t know enough about game development to say, secure the trademark to your name before slapping it across all your marketing materials. There’s a difference between a “scam,” ie.
